St. Johns Parade
This year the group marched in the St. Johns Parade, celebrating our community as well as our hometown hero, Martha Shelley. Marching along side someone who has done so much for the LGBTQIA+ community going all the way back to Stonewall, and continuing the fight to this day was an absolute honor. Not only is she a hero to us here in St. Johns (and Portland in general), she's also a hero to the queer community at large around the world. Additionally, I cannot express enough just how happy, grateful, proud, and so incredibly thankful I am to have been apart of this entire experience. It was a beautiful, fun, and a very emotionally filled day, that wouldn't have been the success it was without everyone involved, and all of the community members that showed up. What I can hope from this experience is that the queer community in North Portland feels loved, valid, seen, and heard.
